De Graafschap and Orion Stars play in King’s Day shirts
De Graafschap and Orion Stars are joining forces to make their contribution to Koningsdag 2025 in Doetinchem. The royal family’s visit will focus on the entire Achterhoek region with Doetinchem as the showcase.
King’s Day for the entire region
Koningsdag 2025 is not just about the city of Doetinchem, but about the entire Achterhoek region. During the royal family’s visit, various facets of living, working and certainly also sports in the most beautiful region of the country will be highlighted. There is plenty of attention to traditions in our region, but at the same time the Achterhoek is also a region of modern technological developments.
Because (top)sports connects and fraternizes, Orion Stars and De Graafschap, as Achterhoek’s top sports organizations, are joining forces to contribute to the visit of the royal family to the Achterhoek. For this reason, both teams will enter one match in a special Kings Day shirt.
Fine collaboration
General Manager Rob Jorna of Orion Stars is pleased that the connection between Orion Stars and the Municipality of Doetinchem has grown stronger in recent years. “In cooperation with Sport-ID we organize fat sporting events: we are transforming our volleyball matches into an inspiring mix of fun, entertainment, atmosphere and experience, which fully engages players, partners and spectators alike in the experience.”
“Together with De Graafschap, we are doing our bit for King’s Day this way,” Jorna continued. “And in addition, both teams are putting Doetinchem in the sporting limelight with the orange shirts.”
Achterhoek Pride
“De Graafschap wants to be the Pride of the Achterhoek and promote that socially, especially on such a unique day as Kings Day is now becoming in Doetinchem,” said De Graafschap general manager Marco Bogers. “That is why De Graafschap will appear in the home match against Jong Ajax on April 19 in a special Koningsdag 2025 shirt, with Royal orange prominently visible on the Achterhoek shirt one time only.”
“Of course, the blue will not disappear from the shirt either. Obviously the logo will be on our chest in the original color scheme,” Bogers explained. “In addition, all details will be in blue on the shirt, including the back numbers, and there will be a thin blue line under the orange stripes. Unexpected Corner will make way on the chest for this game and there, during the match against Jong Ajax, the Kings Day 2025 logo will be visible. We are looking forward to a great night of soccer and hopefully we can celebrate a great victory in these special Kings Day shirts.”
Veiling van de shirts
The shirts of Orion Stars and De Graafschap will be auctioned for charity. The proceeds of the auctioned Orion Stars shirts will go to the club’s social project; Stars United. The proceeds of the auction of the De Graafschap shirts will go to the social projects of De Graafschap Verbindt.
