Route

The route is known. The Royal family will arrive by bus on Saturday 26 April from the Burgemeester van Nispenstraat. The King and his family will walk via the Plantsoenstraat to the Raadhuisstraat. From the Raadhuisstraat the route goes via the IJsselkade towards the Walmolen.

Via the Burgemeester van Nispenstraat the route runs towards the Plantsoenstraat. From there the route goes to the Raadhuisstraat. From the Raadhuisstraat the route goes via the IJsselkade towards the Walmolen. This is the end of the route. A number of well-known places in Doetinchem are indicated on the map. For example, the Amphion theatre, the Tand, the Catharinakerk, the Steck, the Town Hall, the bicycle bridge and the Walmolen can be seen. The route is indicated with an orange line. At the top of the map you can see the logo of King's Day in Doetinchem.

Frequently asked questions

This route shows a beautiful part of Doetinchem. In addition, the route is most suitable in terms of infrastructure. The city center will still have enough space for the regular festivities for King’s Day when this route goes just along the city center.

The celebration has a major impact on the accessibility of the center. We do not know exactly what the closures and other traffic measures will look like at the moment. We are working with emergency services and transport companies to create an accessibility and mobility plan for King’s Day.

After the departure of the Royal family, we will gradually lift the measures. At this time, it is not yet known when all roads will be reopened.

The market will not take place on Saturday, April 26. The market will, however, take place on Tuesday, April 22, and Tuesday, April 29.
