King’s Day Concert

Tonight Theater Amphion was the stage for the annual King’s Day concert. In the presence of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, guests were able to enjoy a varied program.

The concert featured the ensemble Pynarello. Unlike other companies, they play standing, by heart and without a conductor. They were reinforced by soloists from different musical worlds. Musicians from Doetinchem and surroundings also performed, such as pianist Caspar Vos and singer Emma Luca, last year’s winner of the Region Song Festival 2024.

The King’s Day Concert traditionally takes place in the month leading up to King’s Day. It has been held since 1985, each year with different performances. Until 2013, the concert always took place at Noordeinde Palace, but since 2014 the Koningsdagconcert has been in the municipality where the Royal Family celebrates Koningsdag. The audience consisted of people involved in the organization of Koningsdag in Doetinchem. People involved in music (education) in Southeastern Gelderland were also allowed to attend.

Wondering how it was? You watch the King’s Day concert on Saturday, April 26, at 8:30 p.m. on NPO 2.
