Make a King’s Bird, too!
In honor of the arrival of the King and his family, we are transforming the Hamburger Gate into “King’s Gate. For this we need lots of King’s Birds which we will decorate the gate with. With the King’s Birds that are left over, we will also decorate the route that the Royal Family takes during King’s Day. And if there are any birds left over, we will also decorate the city center with them!
Will you help too?
Together we will make sure the city is beautifully decorated. Make your own King’s Bird and who knows, maybe you will see it soon in the gateway or on the route!
Draw your unique King’s Bird
Do this as large as possible on a wooden panel. Preferably at A3-
size, but A4 size will do as well. What the bird looks like is entirely up to you. Saw out the King Bird, or have someone do it for you, and give it a lick of paint.
Notice! There are a few conditions
- The King’s Bird is made of wood
- The King’s Bird wears a crown
- Make a hole in the King’s Bird (5mm diameter) to hang it from
- You paint the King’s Bird on both sides with water-resistant paint
- You give the bird a coat of protective varnish.
You may use these colors
- The colors of the Achterhoek flag
- The colors of the Dutch flag
- The gold of the royal crown
- The orange of the royal pennant
Bird ready? Turn it in!
